A Starlink Mini gives you a broadband-style connection from a campsite, a car or a cabin. How fast it feels depends mostly on how much sky the dish can see, so a clear spot matters more than anything else you do.

What that bandwidth supports

Our rental includes an unlimited data plan, so you can use the connection for the things people actually book it for:

Powering the Mini off-grid

You supply the power source when you are away from a car or an outlet. The rental kit includes the cables and adapters for the common setups:

  • A 12V car plug adapter and a USB-C car power cable, for the easiest setup while traveling
  • A regular AC wall outlet plug, for cabins and other places with AC power
  • Cables to run the dish from a portable power station

If you bring a battery, our guidance is a portable power station with DC output (12V to 48V supported) and at least 100W of continuous output. Using a Starlink at Burning Man

Black Rock City is built on a dry lakebed in northern Nevada, so an open view of the sky is not the problem. Whether and how you can run a dish there is a question for the event's own rules, which can change from year to year. Read Burning Man's current guidance before you plan around it. The 2027 event runs August 29 to September 6, according to burningman.org.
